Although we often identify with the likes of Samantha, Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda, one our favorite Sex and the City characters is Bunny McDougall (Trey’s mother). It’s not so much for what she says, but rather for what we imagine she would say in her eyebrow-raising voice. She’s a Zestra woman at heart (even though she might not let it on) and, well, Frances Sternhagen’s portrayal of her just makes us laugh.

Recently, we came across an article that would certainly warrant a classic comment from Bunny – it turns out, Victorian women liked sex (rock on tea-drinking sisters). In the spring issue of its alumni magazine, Stanford University is featuring Clelis Mosher, “The Sex Scholar.” Clelis was an unrecognized pioneer in the field of women’s sexual health, and it was her ground-breaking research that uncovered this information about Victorian women. Although the data from Clelis’s surveys was never published, her studies were unearthed by Stanford historian Carl Degler in 1973. In one study, many of the forty-five women surveyed reported that they experienced desire, orgasm and engaged in sexual activity because of the pleasure derived from it…corsets, petticoats and all. What’s more is that Victorian women had sex frequently (even by today’s standards) – about three-quarters of the women engaged in sex at least once a week. Hmm…just think what they could have done with a little Zestra tucked away in their purses.

At Semprae, we’d like to pay homage to Clelis Mosher and her contribution to the field of women’s sexual health, by making her an honorary member of our board. Of course, we hope Bunny would also give Clelis a proper congratulations. For more information about Clelis, see the Stanford Magazine article.

We had a fun conversation this week with ladies of Skinny Scoop (tagline – “where moms go to get the skinny & share the scoop”). Together, we put the spotlight on sexual satisfaction by asking some of you to rate your sexual satisfaction on a scale of 1-5. Clearly, you all didn’t vote the same way. About 50% of you said, loosely translated, “My sex life is fine with occasional flashes of greatness.” Hopefully more flashes of greatness than feelings of fine. And not surprisingly, when we “get our head in the game,” fireworks happen more often than not. And you probably shouldn’t tell your partners (won’t be that motivating) that almost all of you have said to yourself after having sex, “Yeah…got one on the board…quota filled for this week.” We won’t share the quotes for those of you who rated your satisfaction a 5 – we think it is just bragging.

But ladies, start your engines. Every single one of you said that you wanted to make a resolution to have more sex. Lots of you are interested if you have the time or energy. Maybe all you need is a little boost. Enter Zestra stage left – clinically proven to improve arousal, desire and satisfaction. Give it 3-5 minutes, and you can get the Zestra Rush.

The two also discuss how Zestra has given women the freedom to ask questions and is a fun, natural, low-risk way to explore sex.

Another big week for female sexual satisfaction. The Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy published a study this week on Zestra, highlighting its effectiveness in improving desire, arousal and satisfaction for 70% of women. So now all of the evidence is in, Zestra works for women with and without sexual concerns or difficulties.

And it certainly was a great start to the New Year for Sadie Nardini. It turns out that yoga instructing, Nardini and her photographer husband, decided to have sex every day for the entire month of December. While their goal was to get rid of their cigarette and chocolate habits, they found that the daily sex had other terrific benefits. They slept better, they had more energy and Nardini didn’t get her usual winter cold.

And guess what??? They are going back to bat — to have daily sex every day in January too.

While experts are divided about the conclusions – maybe it doesn’t matter – if sex makes people healthier or if the healthy have more sex. It sounds like a win for everyone.

And in a recent North Carolina study, results showed that women who enjoyed sex lived longer than those who didn’t enjoy sex.

WOW SOUNDS GOOD!!!! Zestra for everybody. In fact, we think we will send the Nardinis a nice little New Year’s Gift.
